Craig has been a full-time Realtor at The Murphys Realtors since 2003 and has a nationally notable specialty niche real estate practice where he specializes in the sale of houses near to bikeways-[rail trails]--and greenways. He also specializes in the sale of antique or historic houses or houses in traditional neighborhoods such as those with sidewalks and porches.
This unique real estate practice was recently featured in two national realtor trade magazines, the state trade magazine, a BOSTON GLOBE editorial, an article in the WALL STREET JOURNAL and even a mention in United Airlines in-flight magazine—HEMISPHERES. Because of these niches, he is consistently is among the top realtors at not only the firm, but the region as well.
He is also the author of five books, and is one of the country’s most in-demand public speakers on the subject of how rail to trail projects impact residential real estate. He has given over 1,200 lectures on these subjects in 19 states and Canadian provinces and he has also helped to build over 1,000 miles of rail trails in the past 15 years. Interestingly, in the past five years, four books, have been written that feature him as a case-study in creative 21st century marketing and branding. He also holds a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation. Only 2% of the Realtors in this marketplace have achieved this designation.
Along with his wife Kathleen, he also operates SUGAR MAPLE TRAILSIDE INN, a bed & breakfast located in a restored, 1865 farmhouse in Northampton’s village of Florence. The renovation of the house was featured in an episode of HGTV’s RESTORE AMERICA series. Click HERE to go to that HGTV video. For a full Bio/CV of Craig, Click HERE.
